On Thursday, October 3, President Benty and Director James Van Der Woulde visited Sea Club V to meet with our management team, insurance agent, WrightWay Emergency Services, and contractors to begin the recovery process following Hurricane Helene.
Immediately after the hurricane passed, management notified the board of the damages and closed the resort for safety and liability reasons. Sea Club V will remain closed until further notice, with the recovery process expected to take several months due to significant damage.
Saltwater has impacted all first-floor units, boilers, laundry services, equipment, and A/C units. The spa and pool are filled with sand and saltwater, and efforts to remove approximately three feet of sand from the parking lots are underway. While the upper units were not directly affected, they are currently unusable due to several other factors.
We are working closely with insurance carriers and contractors to assess the damage, and water extraction and remediation efforts have already begun. The board and management are actively working to establish a recovery timeline and restore operations.
This is the most severe storm in Sea Club V’s 44-year history, and we appreciate your patience as we navigate this challenging time. If you have concerns, please avoid social media and contact us directly. The board members, who volunteer their time without financial benefit, are available to listen and address your questions.
