SCV Owners Update on Restoration 02.21.2025
Published February 21st, 2025
I am thrilled to share an uplifting update on our beloved Sea Club V as we continue our remarkable journey towards recovery and reopening. These past months have been fraught with challenges and obstacles, but they have also shown us the true strength and spirit of our community. With unwavering dedication and commitment, our incredible team has pushed through adversity, embodying resilience and hope at every turn.
Let us recognize and celebrate the extraordinary efforts of the Board of Directors, Management Team, and Staff of Sea Club V. Their hard work and perseverance have been nothing short of inspirational. I have witnessed firsthand the tireless dedication and passion they have brought to our property. Tony and I have been in constant communication almost daily, ensuring that every step forward is a step towards our shared success. One of our board members has even taken time from his own business to lend his expertise, demonstrating the true spirit of camaraderie and collaboration. I applaud each and every one of them for their unwavering commitment.
Our progress is a testament to our collective determination. While some days may feel slow, it is heartening to know that we are ahead of many others. Despite setbacks from contractor shortages, material delays, and insurance hurdles, we have made significant strides. We set an ambitious reopening date for the end of March, and I am proud to report that all units are drywalled and painted. Cabinets are being installed, carpeting is complete in the North Building, the exterior is freshly painted, and the roof has been repaired or replaced on both the North and South Buildings. Furnishings are onsite and ready to be placed in the units. Next week, we will begin regrouting and sealing the tile in the North and Main Buildings, with appliances arriving shortly thereafter.
Many of you may wonder why the reopening is still a month away, especially when it seems we are so close to completion. This is a great question and I want to address it thoroughly. With every step forward, we often encounter unexpected issues that need resolving—such as leaking pipes that must be exposed and repaired, or electrical problems that require urgent attention. Much of this is due to our aging infrastructure, which the storm has unfortunately laid bare.
Even after the contractors have finished their work in the rooms, our team must step in to install additional features such as shelves, hairdryers, televisions and other amenities. Moreover, we must conduct thorough testing of all systems, components, making any necessary repairs or bringing in specialized contractors to address issues beyond our expertise.
I assure you that our goal is to open the property as soon as we possibly can. Keeping it closed does not benefit anyone; in fact, from a financial standpoint, the property suffers from the lack of rentals. Therefore, I kindly ask for you continue to be patient just a little longer and understanding as we work diligently to put everything back together. We will provide more updates in the coming weeks as we achieve further milestones.
In these challenging times, it is our unity, resilience, and unwavering commitment that will see us through. Together, we are not just rebuilding Sea Club V; we are creating a brighter, sustainable longevity plan for our property. I thank you for your ongoing support and look forward to welcoming you back to our rejuvenated home away from home.
With gratitude and optimism,
